About
The story
Threaded Journeys
It seems creativity and travel have always been at the heart of Caren’s life. Building Bulila is her way of living a life of meaning and authenticity that has been lacking in her professional life for a long time. It’s a yearning to share what is good and natural in our world.
Moving from a large city, she chose to live in a small village in Cyprus for now, where she could embrace slow living. Her passion for life, making a positive difference to our damaged planet, and sharing beautiful and lasting artisan-made items are at the heart of what Bulila is about.
Her love of storytelling is intertwined with her desire to help age-old craftsmanship survive, and for you to cherish these items for years to come, knowing they were made with care and love.
Craftsmanship
Creating Stories and Heirlooms
Before starting a range we build strong relationships with our artisans. We have long conversations over tea or a meal whilst they share the history of their craft, how they create their products, and what the possibilities are with different materials. This takes time, patience and a lot of dreaming, so each item is brought to life with the wisdom and passion of these artisans, and our loving support.
We want these age-old crafts to survive in our industrialised and technological world, and share their fascinating stories with you, so you will love our limited editions and exclusive collaborations, knowing it was lovingly created by real people.
If our products are a tad more expensive, it’s because they take a long time to come to life.
Materials
Good for you, good for our planet
We use materials that respect both you and our planet. Our dedication to Earth stewardship is intertwined with the use of natural materials such as linen, rich olive oil for our soaps and natural dyes and processes, resulting in pieces that are as gentle on the earth as they are beautiful.
Through our continuous exploration and collaboration, we will introduce designs and materials that honour this commitment.
