My love for travel began in childhood when I would climb to the top of the old willow in our garden and dream of the places I’d visit. Naturally, Bulila was conceived and born during my travels. 😊
Alongside my passion for travel, I have a deep love for design and natural materials. A special piece of fabric can transform a room into a cosy haven, a soap change a cleansing experience into something special.
I cherish the dense linen sheets I found at a Paris street market years ago, made during the 1900s and beautifully embroidered and scalloped. Another treasured item is a vibrant blue and white tablecloth crafted by a friend’s company using a West African flour batik method. Despite its age, it remains as beautiful as ever, holding precious memories. I am sure you all have similar stories and pieces that are close to your hearts.
Living in the Mediterranean now, I treasure the proximity to antiquity and the refined art that has evolved over centuries. I’m sure you’ll agree it’s a legacy worth preserving.
As we launch our initial range, please know that each piece has been crafted with great care and attention and we will bring you the stories behind each one. We hope you derive immense joy from using our products. If you choose a limited-series cushion, may it become a cherished heirloom, just as Suzanis have been passed down through generations.
Growing up in Africa instilled in me a profound appreciation for nature conservation. Committed to leaving our world a better place, we will donate €2 from each piece purchased to a rewilding project. Why rewilding? We feel that rewilding is a holistic way to restore landscapes, whilst ensuring we know we are part of Everything, and allow communities to benefit economically. As Bulila grows with your love and support, we aim to extend our support to other initiatives and eventually donate a percentage of Bulila’s profits. We are inspired by the incredible efforts of passionate people to restore the mangroves of Madagascar, and will keep you updated on these initiatives on our website and our monthly newsletter.
